In celebration of October’s Blind Equality Achievement Month, the National
Federation of the Blind of Idaho is inviting you to a one-hour informational
seminar on Idaho’s white cane law. This law was amended in 2019 to include
all persons with disabilities. This seminar entitled “Idaho’s White Cane
Law: Guaranteeing Freedom and Access for Idahoans Who Are Blind or
Disabled”, will be held on Zoom, Tuesday, October 11, from 3:30 P- 4:30
Mountain Time.
Featured speakers include Mark Maurer, General Counsel (retired) and
President Emeritus National Federation of the Blind, Eric Petterson,
Disability Advocate, retired Attorney and lifetime member of the NFB of
Idaho, as well as other members of the NFB Idaho affiliate. Topics will
include a brief history of the white cane law, provisions of the law for
pedestrians and drivers, 2019 changes to the law, and legislation regarding
service animals. There will be time for questions and discussion. This
seminar is open to anyone. If you would like to attend, please send an email
